My take:

Deprivation was an okayish read for me. I liked the premise of the story. The situation is really scary and it's ample amount of dark but the writing didn't do justice to it. I couldn't feel the fear of the protagonist. I wanted to know why this fate had fallen on him but the reason that's given, although it is very twisted, but it didn't satisfy me as a reader. I mean the author is no Stephen king. I don't know how much an independent author makes but if i have to guess i don't think it's worth killing for.

Also, for the antagonist every thing just fell into place a little too easily. There was a lack of struggle between the characters and since protagonist does nothing to avoid his fate, the story has no thrill.I had a feeling there would be some sick twist to the story but there was none. I wish it could have been more thrilling and had more twists.

A good idea but it could have been executed a lot better.
