Gopallapuram by K Rajanarayan is the story of village of the same name. Kotiyar house was the house of most influential family of the village Gopallapuram. The members of this family were the de facto leaders of this village who used to take important decisions of the village whether it was the fight against the bandits or a decision against a criminal.

But don't you think you ought to know more about this village and it's residents? How did this village came to be? Who are the members of Kotiyar house related to and how did they occupied this position in village? Who are the other residents of this village? How does this village deals with criminals?

You'll have to read the book to know get the answers of the above questions.

The book is not a big one with page count of 137 but it was an entertaining read. The story of how Gopallapuram came to be was exciting to read although it felt a little exaggerated not only to me but also to the listener in the book. But the part of the book that i liked was when the reader is introduced to various residents of Gopallapuram and how these people got their nicknames. The stories are entertaining and sometimes downright hilarious. There is a Hen Feather Chinnaiah Nayakkar, soil lover Rengaiah Nayakkar, 'good soul' Thiravathi Nayakkar, Loud Nayyakar or Big throat Nayyakar,Snuff Kenga Nayakkar and so many persons. Now don't you feel the need to know the story behind these nick names. I loved reading about them and hope you'll like those stories.

If you are interested in reading about a village and it's residents then you'd like it, The stories that this book has are precise and to the point. Thus you don't feel bored while reading them as only the interesting tidbits about the lives of villagers are given.
