First Sentence:
When the dashboard clock read 2:40, Parker drove out of the drugstore parking lot and across the sunlit road to the convenience store/gas station.

Parker is a thief with his own code of conduct. He believes in the adage Honor among thieves a little too seriously. So, when he feels he's been stiffed by his crew after a job he  plans to get his revenge. There would be no mercy and they would be paid in kind ie he'll take what they're going to get in the next job. And he doesn't care if he has to kill them for getting it.

I have always wanted to read novels of Parker series. So when i saw the book in Sunday market i knew i had to buy it. It also helped that the book cost only forty rupees. And i must say it was the best forty rupees that i had spent.
The story is taut and fast paced. Once i started reading it i had to force myself to stop. I had gone on a trek  and had taken this book along with me. If i haven't been there i would have completed it in single sitting in stead of two sittings that it took me to complete it.
Parker as a character is bad ass and i love him for that. I had seen the movie based on this book but in that they had created a good cause for Parker to go berserk on his one time accomplices. They had shot him and left him for that. But in the book they just take his money and wanted to return it later. So, if i had to compare movie Parker was logical but this one is more dangerous and exciting character. I haven't read any other Parker novel but i think Parker is like this in most of the book. There are two parallel stories in the book. Parker wants revenge from some guys and then there is somebody who wants Parker dead. These two stories increase the thrill quotient of the book.
Most of the times i liked Parker's actions but there was one instance where he loots a multiplex by putting two woman in gun point which i didn't like. Although he doesn't harm them but it didn't feel right to me.Personally i think he should have taken a different target. In rest of the novel he's not done anything that i didn't like. Most of the act of violence he did was to those guys who deserved it. This was the only thing about Parker that i didn't like so had to mention it.
In the end i would just say that, the book is better than the movie. I loved it and you should definitely check it out. I would definitely look in to the other book in the series. This has definitely piqued my interest in the series.
