The secret of nagas start from the point where the The Immortals of Meluha ended. So if you haven't read the first book, i would recommend to go through the first one.
The book starts with a confrontation between Shiva and the mysterious Naga warrior that had already attacked Sati earlier. The book reveals the identity of Naga warrior who had shown so contradictory nature till now. He had no compunction in killing priests in temple but he fought a crocodile  to save a woman. Who is this Naga??Are they really evil or they are just different?? What attraction does Sati holds for the Naga warrior?? And what is the secret that Nagas protecting??
Also will Shiva be able to find out the ultimate evil that he's supposed to destroy??
These are some of the questions that will he answered when you'll read this book..

The book was a very fast read for me. It moves fast as it's action packed and held my interest till the end. The character of Nagas was what interested me in the book. He was show as kind at some point and completely ruthless at some other points. Thus it was the revelation of his identity that kept me reading the book.
Apart from that the other characters in the book keep evolving throughout the book.
Shiva is still evolving into a leader. .He has found out that he'll have to search for evil and then attack it. He felt bad for the ayodhyan's and has realized that difference in livings and ideologies doesn't make one bad.And that he'll have to rise above the common prevalent biases in his quest.

In the end  i would say it was a fun book and a worthy sequel to The Immortals of Meluha. I enjoyed it very much. If you liked The Immortals of Meluha than you'd love it too. And like i said for the Immortals of Meluha, it's not to be taken as a source for Indian mythology. So if you want to know more about Hindu mythology, go for the religious texts.

Some lines from the book:

Truth doesn't have to be liked. It only has to be spoken. Speak it out. The truth may hurt you, but it will set you free.

Parvateshwar narrows his eyes. He liked the man's spirit. But he had to test his ability now. For spirit without ability usually led to a gruesome death on the battlefield.

The opposite of love is not hate. Hate is just love gone bad. The actual opposite of love is apathy. When you don't care a damn as to what happens to the other person.

'That is the purpose of desire. It is for creation and destruction. It is the beginning and the end of the journey. Without desire, there is nothing
