Two Short Stories: The Bloody Chair and It Stinks

I keep browsing amazon's kindle book store for free  stuff. If you are vigilant enough then you can often grab titles when they are on sale or are freely available. I came across these titles on one of my such browsing sessions.

I read their synopsis and found them interesting. I would be talking about these two stories in this post.

The Bloody Chair by Kate R Martin and It Stinks by Joshua Scribner

First Sentence:
Rudolph Fick was not happy.

When Rudolph Fick's best friend Guadalupe Stein goes missing, he's devastated. He knows police would not be able to find him. He also knows that the chair present in their local museum is somehow responsible for his friend's disappearance. He now wants to go to the bottom of this thing and check whether the local lore is true or not.

Was Rudolph able to find his best friend? Was it really the chair or something else had happened? What is the local lore about the chair?

I enjoyed reading The bloody chair by Kate R Martin. If you are from a small town then you know that in a small town there are bound to be places or things that are supposed to be cursed.

My town has places that are supposed to be bad and if you don't pray there then something bad would happen to you. This is a similar kind of story.

There is chair in the museum that is supposed to be cursed but people think it's a local lore and nothing much. But Rudolph knows that truth and how he tries to destroy the chair makes for an entertaining read.

Ir's a simple story and i enjoyed reading it.

It Stinks by Joshua Scribner

First Sentence:
Hello, Mr Broker.

Alias Rankin was Broker's court appointed attorney. Broker had surrendered before law. But he had done it after killing many people. Now Broker wanted to tell his story. And it had all started with a stench.

Why had Broker killed those people? Why did he want to tell his story?

It Stinks is short story by Joshua Scribner. I liked the concept of the story where the author had linked the people's characters to the smells that emanate from them. The story is gripping and keeps you hooked till the end.

The only thing that irked me was the ending of the story. It's kind of cool but there are lots of questions that are left unanswered.

Why did Broker start smelling things?
Who were the other people that Broker was talking about?
Where were those? And were they like Broker or they had some different powers?
Whose were the people behind this?

These were the questions that i kept thinking about after i had finished the story. I think  it would have been better it would have had more details. A novella instead of a short would have been better choice here as then most of the unanswered questions would been properly answered.

My Rating: 3.5/5
